I think Diane is getting at something really key here. When she says "I don't think, I know." This gets at why so many, many people do nothing in the face of injustice (of all kinds). They don't know. It isn't in-their-face. They are removed from the wild earth and really from 99% of the consequences of "the American Way of Life (death)."
