New Philharmonia Orchestra, Otto Klemperer BBC Chorus Agnes Giebel, Soprano Janet Baker, Alto Nicolai Gedda, Tenor Hermann Prey, Baritone Franz Krass, Bass Studio Recording, October 1967
the first movement is gorgeous. if you listen to the 2nd to last movement of the entire piece, it is what made Janet Baker's voice, the best ive ever heard.
Thank you so much for posting this performance. Klemperer, true to form, takes it very slow and brings out a richness and intensity that many renditions by other conductors miss altogether.
Klemperer gave 2 performances of this work in the 1960s. At one of these performances sat Carlo Maria Giulini in the audience with his score attentively following the action. And what a performance it was.
Total awesomeness

Otto Klemperer here did a performance so touching to me.
First time I realise what about this music is. ... no rush and smooth sound, simply great interpretation.
( It was a pity that polish king didn't decided to have J.S. Bach in his court.... Best form Poland)
