Roy's original version of the song from 1963. he wrote the song after forgetting another song, he said to himself, "A candy-couloured clown they call the sand man" and went to sleep. during his sleep it came to him in a dreama nd when he awoke he made a quick demo and wrote it down, it was a double-time hit, in 1963 and 1987, when it was used in the film, Blue Velvet. hope you enjoy. please comment.

Roy had the most beautiful voice I have ever heard.I think Elvis said it best.He said Roy had the voice that all of them wanted,but didn't have.

Roy Orbison's talent was more than just singing. He was a master guitarist & lyricists although I heard in an interview that he didn't know how to write musical scales. Maybe he learned later on. Genius comes first; training that genius comes later. Few ever make the heights that Roy did. I heard Sting sing "Panis Angelicus" with Pavarotti. Why he would pretend he could sing with Pavarotti and not make himself look foolish is beyond me.
