Laura took on the Nolan Strong and The Diablos (also done by The Jesters) doo-wop classic on 'Gonna take a miracle' (where Laura did all the back-up vocals, not with Labelle on that track, as some people believe). Here is another classic interpretation of the tune, this time with Laura's Harmony Group.

You're probably thinking of "The Bells", luvureally. Patti is VERY prominent on THAT track (she even released a live version of it herself on her 'Live! One Night Only' set a few years ago) I read on Patti's site some years ago that LaBelle did not perform on "The Wind", "Spanish Harlem" or "Desiree" from 'Gonna take a miracle'. Those three songs are pure Laura Nyro on all of the vocals. Thanks for writing. Luvu2. Really. (smile)
Went back and listened again. That is definitely Patti on there. "Turning me around, Turning me around" in middle of song and at end of song "Gonna take, gonna take a miracle. That is definitely Patti. Those are definitely Patti's gospel riffs.
Maybe I didn't make myself clear, KemuLuxons (my bad). The three songs Laura sings all the vocals on are "The Wind", "Spanish Harlem" and "Desiree". The ALBUM/CD is 'Gonna take a miracle'. Patti, Nona and Sarah are definitely on the SONG "It's Gonna Take A Miracle". Thanks for writing tho, is case someone else also misunderstood what I was trying to say.
Denknee is right. The three songs s/he names from "Gonna Take a Miracle" are solo Laura. Patti Labelle sings with Labelle on the restof the album. Listen closely to "Wind" and the others -- that's 100 percent Laura. Michele Kort's Laura bio backs this up.
Eventhough they did a good job here you should hear the version where she sings this with Patti Labelle and Labelle. The harmonies are much better. They actually made it sound like the wind. It was just beautiful. And Patti's voice really rang out in the background.
