The Word of Life Mural was a gift of Mr. and Mrs. Howard V. Phalin of Winnetka, Illinois. Installed during the spring of 1964, it was kept covered until the day of the Hesburgh library's formal dedication. Millard Sheets was the artist commisioned to create the mural.

It has been reported Jesus has turned down the offer to assume the football coaching position at Notre Dame. He cited the pressure was too much to endure from an unreasonable expectation level from the fans. Being chastised once was enough for one life.

Hypocrisy and blasphemy. Too bad this college is no longer Catholic. It could have been a beacon now it's in lockstep with humanism.
