Popular Melbourne 80's band GEISHA have reformed with founding member, lead vocalist and songwriter Chris Doheny being joined by noted guitarist and Rock Journalist Joe Matera. Geisha had enjoyed tremendous success in the mid 80's with 8 Australian chart singles between 1985 and 1987 including Fools' Way, Rainy Day, Kabuki, Calling You Name, Part Time Love Affair, A Girl Like You and Normal People.
Birthday was written by Chris Doheny and Craig Harnath, the latter having been with Kids In The Kitchen among other bands, and is Geisha's first new release in 22 years. The track has been produced by legendary US producer Tom Werman who is noted for his work with Cheap Trick, Motley Crue, Ted Nugent, Twisted Sister, LA Guns and Stryper amongst other bands.
The video is directed by Liam Firmager and released through Diamond Dog Records.
A new album from Geisha is scheduled for release later in 2009 and the band are currently in rehearsals and getting ready to hit the road again for the first time in 22 years.
