As an update to this report Sony today 11/3/2010 advised me that the Cracks in the X1 is a manufacturer fault & that they will ask all models to be returned... of course except for my own model purchased on Ebay in Australia. As it is an "international phone", there is no warranty, now to be very honest, thats very poor service from Sony Ericcson when you consider that the iemi number, box etc is directly from SE regardless.
So whats this Video about ? Instead of talking about how great new phones are, I decided to test 2 new phones under normal circumstances over a several month period.
The hype on new phones is in most cases over rated, as i work in a phone shop myself I see many complaints on new phones before 12 months...
The iphone & the xperia come head to head
in a QUALITY battle, who will win ? which phone reigns supreme? Both Phones were available at the same time in Australia & have the same size camera.
this test reflects what i see on a daily basis & should be taken in consideration when signing a 2 years contract... if you do ever sign a 2 year contract make sure you get a 24 month extended warranty.
As I have first rate knowledge on phones I also have most answers on the number of phones I see come back so feel free to ask any questions, without any heavy sales approach as I make no money out of doing this in any case. I have also contacted Sony Ericsson regarding this & have not heard from them so far 2/3/2010, there seems to be alot of complaints on the x1 model. visit also http://xperia-x1.com/xperia-x1-showing-cracks/xperia-x1-crack-battery/ to see more complaints. Have tried to negotiate even spare part to be sent for this model for free
still they will do nothing about this...& yet they admit it is a fault in the design globally... more recently the on off button has now stopped working properly as well... Ive offered Sony Erricson to help me & they do nothing... I certainly do not recommend the X10 this unit may also have the same problem with its buttons...
Indeed....i owned an Xperia X1 for about 8 months and same thing happened to me to...it started to crack inside. They really dropped the ball on this one and there's no way tellin' if the new smartphones are better. Second thing on Xperia X1 is the damn earpice...now i used to have a K800 before and there was no static, no interuptions no noise sound (this is execrable on Xperia X1). Third nasty thing was the camera....compaired to the K800 cybershot 3mpx camera Xperia is a joke.

Ok The latest news I spoke to Alex Godfrey from Sony Ericsson In Australia they will not fix the phone. Why ? It was purchased in Australia on Ebay, but it is an "international phone" therefore it will not be fixed under warranty. However The "cracks" in the phone were infact recognised by Sony Ericsson as a global Fault & yet Sony Ericsson will not fix the phone, the total cost to fix the phone is $380.. it was $1100.00 SE= POOR quality, POOR after service. They WASH their hands, dont Buy SE !
