Geri Jewell played "Jewel", the disabled woman who cleaned Al Swearengen's Gem Saloon, on the HBO Deadwood series. She originally came to fame playing "Cousin Geri" on the NBC sitcom "The Facts of Life." She was the first person with a disability to have a regular role on a prime-time series. She began her career doing stand up comedy at the Comedy Store in 1978. This is part of her presentation at the Deadwood Chamber of Commerce banquet in Deadwood, SD in 2005 where she was the featured speaker. I love Geri Jewell!!!! And as you stated in the video description, I definitely loved her as Cousin Jeri in "The Facts of Life." She's amazing!!! She never allows her disability to hinder her at all!!!!

I first saw Geri, when I was nine years old I think, on the Cerebal Palsey Telethon, that John Ritter used to host on ABC every year. I would watch her every year, get up and do a Comedy routine, getting people to pledge money for this cause! Then, years later, actually about a month ago, and I just finished it, I saw her again on Season 1,2,and 3, the DVD Set....of Deadwood' ,I always looked up to her, but even more now! she has always been one of my Hero's, and always will be!
