Being *convicted* of 80% of crimes is a very different thing than *committing* 80% of crimes; it becomes very difficult to tell the difference between the two. As for the high rate of incarceration for blacks, that;s disgraceful -not just for the black community- but for the whole damned country. It speaks to racism and the willful continuation of a shitty situation.

The reason Louisiana has the highest incarceration rate is because its one of the few states to have multiple cities where blacks predominantly reside over whites and other minorities.

New Orleans: 60% Black / 7th US city overall for black population.

Baton Rouge: 59% Black / 8th US city overall for black population.

Shreveport: 55% Black / 13th US city overall for black population.

Fact: 2/3 of all inmates are black and commit 80% of all violent crimes.
