Oh, brother, get a life conspiracy dreamers. If the Government wanted to spy or control you they have more effective means to do so than the converter boxes. The transfer to digital is just a preview of the technological upgrade to 3-D and Holograms later on. As far as subliminal messages you already get them on Analog TV anyhow, and all during your day. I do have a suggestion for the older, preferably smaller analog sets, keep at least one of them around in case the power goes out.

Hey I have a Panasonic flat screen with Dish TV with the regular channels (5,19,64 ect.). Will my channels be broadcast in digital? Thanks.

dudtz, you are 100% correct, in fact i seen a video 2 days ago on a magnavox digital receiver that the govt is giving coupons out for, as soon as he removed the top you could clearly see a video camera and a little white microphone.
i find it out our govt would give out money like that to begin with, but for a tv? why? they dont even hand it out for the homeless. it was later confirmed when that video was supposedly deleted by the user only a day later. coincidince? i doubt it.
