i think that both sides are wrong in some aspects, the abh should be more liberal and understand that the terrans have diferent thoughts, i mean they live in space so they forgot what was like to be a terran and the united manking is also wrong because they want to eliminate the entyre abh race .

The thing about Abhs is that they underestimate humankind to learn and understand. They just jump ahead and do what's best for them. Kind of like a parent and a child thing. You won't exactly be happy when your parents punish you for a reason not well explained. Prolly they'll just tell you, "You're too young" and so they'll grow up and get the notion when they get old, they understand everything and pretty much capable of doing what they did to their child.

ok for one yes abh are very controling and such but united mankind would most likly like all humans rule with a controling behaver it just comes down to what kind of control would you like more...I would like abh since there is little to no crime and people are content. where as mankind welll....lots of crime and pointless wars..ssssooooo abh for me please.

Damn, since the story is told through the Abhs point of view its hard not to like the two main characters & the other abh, BUT, when you explain it all like that, it seems the empire is no better than the United Mankind who oppose them.

The abh may not be as blatantly hostile as the humans, but its clear they're still taking away their basic rights as sentient beings to gain control over their sections of space (tyrants). Both sides are guilty of great wrong doing.

Yup, they both engage in propoganda.

The Abh have basically appointed themselves the "Guardians of the State" that Plato talked about in Plato's Republic. They argue that people need the elite to take care of them.

Humankind argues that people can take care of themselves. This opening paints it as negatively as possible, but then, the Abh also ignore the way they as the elite run roughshod over others because "it's for their own good".

I don't find the Abh argument persuasive.

WOW...I like the many Abh characters and dislike how the United Mankind lie and use proganda to get supporters...but still, in real life, a govt that believes itself superior to all down to the genetic level & that all should follow their lead...That would be downright EVIL. I'm glad that neither of these nations really exist, lol.

Seems to me to be about the different philosophies about what role the government should play. United Mankind believes that people want and need to be independent so each planet should take care of itself (like teaching a man to fish so he can eat for a lifetime). The Abhs don't believe in independence but the compentent taking care of the incompetent (when they want help) and clearly they believe that their own competence (down to a genetic level) qualifies them to take care of everybody.
