"Hymnody, Prosody, and Counterpoint" is a two-hour course in hymn theory and performance, given in 2003 in Stanford, CA; in 2005 in Torrance, CA; and most recently in 2009 in San Diego, CA. The course webpage at http://ssngai.byethost14.com/hymnody/hymnody.htm offers narrated versions of the introductory Lessons 0, 1, 2, and 3.

In the optional preliminary Lesson Zero, you'll come to appreciate the sense of hearing and music that God has designed in us. Hear some audio demonstrations, and discover what makes music and harmony so satisfying. You'll realize that there is science behind even the most sublime art!

Note: Though some details of this lesson benefit from a familiarity with music theory, knowledge of the subject is generally unnecessary for this course.

Sorry for the poorly functioning animations; they fared badly in the video conversion.
