    Almost.

Heavier weights really won't get you more top end. The variator can only close just so much.

Lighter weights will get you more rpm's at takeoff which translates into torque.

For the cheapest top speed, you really have to add more air and fuel into your carb.

  • The Variator rollers....lighter rollers=low end torque Heavy roller= high end?

  • Ya, unfortunately, we didn't start from stock with this install. If you notice, we were taking off a shorty clutch and DR2 already.

When we first installed this kit, we got a nice increase in torque with 8's & 10's but the top speed stayed the same. In any other variator we would have lost some top speed with that light a roller setup. I'm only guessing here but I expect we got 3-4mph on the top end. It also didn't take as much distance to get to top end.

  • Great video !!! Just wished you would've done a before and after on the bottom end torque and top end speed to get an idea of how much a difference it really does make and a comparison on the different variator weight combinations as well. Nice video though. Very in depth install and how to vid. Please do a running video too some time. I'v got a 150cc atv and done a radar test on and it only goes 35 mph top speed and that's on pure asphalt. Would like to get it up to at least 40.
