Downstream (Supertramp) (cover by Tony Lewis)

Recorded and filmed 2009. This is my version of Supertramp's 'Downstream' from their album 'Even in the quietest moments'. This has always been a favourite of mine and I have always wanted to do a version of it. Although I could possibly not compete with Rick Davies' vocals I hope you like the arrangement I have put together.

Some of you fellow musicians may have spotted that I play it in a different key to the original. I guess when I was learning the song from the original vinyl, all those years ago, my record player must have played slower than everyone elses (and I couldn't, and still can't, read music). As a result I have always started the song in A flat. I had to re-tune the guitars to make playing them easier.

Anyway, I hope you like what I have done to this classic. All comments welcome.

Good job! The solo sounds exactly like the original, except that Rick Davies adds an F note juste before the last Dmaj7 that ends the solo, adding tension to the transition before the last verse. It is very discreet, though, and I didn't hear him play it on stage, it is just in the studio version.

I have my own lyrics/chords sheet music for this song, without the mistakes usually found on the internet if anyone is interested.

@TonyLewisMostlyMe Of course not! It's just that I noticed you were sticking very close to the original, so I thought you might like to know about this very little inaccuracy. I also made a piano/voice cover of this song, but it is not as faithful to the original as yours.
