Myki to become tourist unfriendly

When Metcard is abolished in 2013, so will the ability to purchase single use and short term tickets. The only option will be to purchase a Myki card for $10 and then on top of that have to pay for whatever trip costs you take. As reported on Channel 7 6pm evening news, 13 July 2011

@darkphantom24873 It went fine for me until I started discovering weird glitches and some cases of overcharging with me. If you forget to touch off on the bus and touch on on a railway station, the railway station will not let you touch off again. At the very least, you can't even touch off at station barriers if you didn't touch off on a bus and touch on on a station....

if you have credit below the fare you need to pay you can touch on, but will never touch off again...

@MUNCHLAXSNORLAX22 the thing is, the idea was good, but as you stated they didn't handle it apropriately and it cost us ( and them due to the lack of users) big time. I use myki and its fine, but after all the crap it went through its got alot of bad rep, and it will be a long time before it will go away.

I mean maybe I'm wrong, maybe this is just the usual news reporters jumping to conclusions when they don't actually have all the facts that the government is actually going to do this, but if not, I hope they come to the realisation that we need both myki and short term cards systems.

Liberal started this privatization and Labor came in for 14 years and did nothing to keep things up to shape and now Liberals are back.... and have inherited....... oh gee... it just seems helpless..... and countless.....

omg, why is it so hard to just have both myki and the short term card, its pritty obvious we need both, this is just another way to suck more money out of people.
