Permaculture - a future of possibility
Lama Foundation, located in the Mountains of New Mexico is host to Grow Here Now and Build Here Now. Annual workshops which bring together teachers as well as students of sustainability. Join us as we examine "what is permaculture" as we attend the Grow Here Now - Convergence at Lama.
Permaculture is a word originally coined by Bill Mollison and David Holmgren in the mid 1970's to describe an "integrated, evolving system of perennial or self-perpetuating plant and animal species useful to man" 'Consciously designed landscapes which mimic the patterns and relationships found in nature, while yielding an abundance of food, fibre and energy for provision of local needs. People, their buildings and the ways in which they organize themselves are central to permaculture. Thus the permaculture vision of permanent or sustainable agriculture has evolved to one of permanent or sustainable culture.

Yeah, I'm into the message, but what's with all the stoned talking heads? The mainstream is ready to have a conversation about permaculture, and we can at least set aside the pipe for a few minutes to meet them half way...

well, the corporate system is entirely dependent on the earth for its survival. it (whoevers keep it going as it is) just ignores that fact. or perhaps more accurately, it ignores how it needs to be utilising it.

sadly a lot of weed and ganj in general is grown with toxic chemicals, not naturally. and is often not open-pollinated. and due to the illegality is often not grown in real soils! nor in real sunlight. go to any grow board, look how much of the discussions and ads are about high-energy-input grow systems and rooms.

i haven't watched this but - what is the excuse for anyone with the money and influence not using it to build projects like on permaculture basis, why the fuck do any of them continue, or ever began, to build things not in harmony with the planet they exist on and rely on all for. cause it makes no rational sense at all how that can happen.

weed can open your mind and unplug you from the matrix thus depending on the earth for survival rather than the corporate system

Its amazing how many people are still asleep.. will they cling on to their failing system right to the bitter end.. or will they come to their senses and connect with reality on this planet.. i look at the people around me and they are so far away from wanting a permaculture existence. they love their tv and fashion and nightclubs so much..and avoid looking at why they feel so empty inside. its so much more comforting to say we are crazy.
