Scary first shot from NHP cruiser - typical Redline ramp-up. This guy was hunkered down next to overpass, running selective I/O, even using different front/rear antennas (variable peak signal from Redline). Redline was not able to pick this up farther out due to 90-degree change in road direction about a half mile away from shooter.

  • The Valentine 1 would have picked him off many miles back.. even with that curve. WIth the trucks going by KA would easily be bouncing off those trailers and the V1 will pick up the radar scatter. That's why I love the V1 so much.....just out performs everything else out there. Love the video though.. I drive through that area in this video on many road trips each year...I have yet to see NHP in this area, but they were heavy on the 50

  • @MrBadfish2

Redline beats V1 on range, though V1 is no slouch.

Look for this video - "Long Range Detect - Escort Redline" also in Battle Mountain where I got a 4-5 mile detect. I have some recent ones that exceed 10 miles in flat open terrain.

  • YOU'LL HONESTLY NEVER KNOW HOW MANY PEOPLE THEY ACTUALLY HAVE SAVED. SO YOU MIGHT CATCH SOME USERS AND I BET MOST OF THEM ARE DUMB KIDS WHO DONT KNOW HOW TO USE ONE PROPERLY OR USE CHEAP ONES LOL. I HATE TO BURST YOUR BUBBLE, BUT THE GOOD ONES DO WORK. THAT DOESNT MEAN THEY ARE 100 PCT. IM SURE YOU HAVE CAUGHT RADAR DETECTOR USERS IN YOUR DAY, BUT LIKE THAT SAYING GOES "EVEN A BLIND SQUIRREL FINDS AN ACORN"

  • @plvasquez98

Quite true. I recently got a radar alert from a Utah Highway Patrol unit running Instant On from 10 miles away in an open valley. On the flip side, if you run a cheap detector like a Cobra, you'll be lucky to get an alert under 1 mile.

  • This looks like westbound high way 80 near Battle Mountain, Nevada.

  • GLASS CASTLE!!

  • @CaliforniaOpenRoad

I picked up a dection on the 15fwy of 16.8 miles .....There's a reason why only Valentine 1 is the only detecor that can legally claim to have the best range of all radar detectors.

  • That looks like Arthur Atens, he is a very poor NHP officer, and Battle Mountain is a complete shithole.

  • @calpoly12000

Air units - another easy one to visually detect. Out in the Nevada desert, any plane flying a circular pattern around the freeway ahead (which you can see more than 5 miles out if you pay attention) are NHP planes. For that matter, ANY plane I see in the desert is 95% likely a NHP unit - not many private pilots out in the boon docks.
