About everything you said about the vault was either wrong or somewhat pointless. First of all - the construction of the vault wasn't a UN-project. It was entirely funded by the Norwegian government. (wikipedia) And you can't put a vault in africa expecting it to keep seeds frozen for hundreds of years. The vault on svalbard will keep the seeds safely frozen even hundreds of years without people being there to maintain it. That's the POINT of placing it there.

Food ownership is the issue here, once GM produce has contaminated every major non GM crop on the planet, and it will happen, too late to stop it, the patent holders will control food production and distribution. The end of bio-diversity is the natural consequence of GM production, hence the Seed Vault, a means to ownership of all non GM seed also.
