The Zastaba Kulbena CZN-M22 was the issue assault rifle for Section 9 in the hit anime film Ghost in the Shell (1995) directed by Mamoru Oshii. It is a purely fictional weapon designed by its original author Masamune Shirow but obviously lifts elements from existing firearms like the French FAMAS and Belgian FNP90. It is deceptively large, but turned out to be so small that none of the full-sized airsoft AEG gearboxes could fit without significantly altering the original dimensions. So instead I used a Well MP7 AEP gearbox firing plastic 6mm, .20g bbs at approximately 280fps at a rate of 18-20rps with an 8.4V battery. I made this replica back in 2008 and is constructed mostly out of PVC plastic (blue) and plasticated wood for the grips. It weighs 2.5kg empty, exactly the same as what it's alleged to have weighed.

  • if i had PVS plastic, how to i use it to make a shotgun grip/stock? Is it possible to mould it? because the attachment is quite annoying to have to cut, but if that's what it takes then i can do it i guess.

  • @ELITEclan100

PV"S"? Not sure what you mean by that. If it was a typo and meant PVC, it will be hard to mold as that requires an industrial injection machine. What I do is heat forming and sculpting. If you need something that can be molded easily, you may want to look at using fiberglass instead.

  • Great job on all of your guns! Watched all the videos..you are talented, may I ask how you came to this? (PVC Plastic, the coloring, is spraypaint?)

  • @jacklan76

Thanks. Yes, the blue parts are pvc plastic in its default color. I use acrylic epoxy spray paint for the finish.

  • Great great job morisato54 , i'm a fan of Ghost in the Shell and your replica is amazing , congratulations . Have you a video of this replica functionning ?

Go on , you're doing perfect construction !!!

  • @TheMrtitit2000

Thanks! It being an AEG, it doesn't really do much when firing so I haven't thought of making an in-action vid. Splitting the gun open is arguably more fun. I'll consider it though, but I'll be making a replica of their issue flak jacket first to wear as costume.

  • you doing some great work dude keep it up

  • Hey great stuff,I've been looking to get into some stuff like this and was wondering what types of materials, paints, gear, etc. that I might need for a project like this. I especially like GiTS weapons and making my own would be great since the market seems washed out with AR's. Thanks and how about Killzone 3's M66 machine pistol for next time :P (Personally its one that I want to make and a reason I asked for some advice.)

  • what is your next project gonna be i enjoy your videos very much and very good work on all the projects

  • @morisato54 yes sorry typo! :P Cool thank you i think i might just cut it like normal.

  • with your skills, why dont you try to do an semiatomatic shotgun? you wil be rich

  • MOTHER OF GOD, please, make MOAR GITS stuff !
