@GunznGear Cool, I looked up the Nite-Tac .45ACP and I'm green with envy. Wow. Thanks a lot for all your time and for all of the useful information, and for bearing with me through all that. Hope you have a great one - happy shooting!

Like I said, I agree with you that it is a "gimmick;" I just also believe that it's useful for much more than what it was originally intended to do. And as I said, I've been able to successfully hunt edible birds with it, even from a wheelchair. So I would still stand by it as a survival gun. Not the greatest in the world, by any means; but one could certainly do much worse!
And I seem to get good groups using large shot or birdshot- not such long range with birdshot, but o.k. up to 15-20y.

I've never handled a Para - looks sweet!
I wouldn't BS anybody about it: it took about 20 shots, but that tree is still laying on its side up on the ridge where I have my range set up! If I could I'd make a video of it to show you, as I hate to think that anyone thinks I'd push BS on them, especially knowing that your knowledge & experience far outstrip my own. I have good faith in the triple-aught buck shells - I used Federal handgun loads, but if I shot it more, I'd use .45LC for sure.

@kludgeon I would think any gun pointed in the face of someone may soil their pants! I was being polite, but I still say it's a gimmick gun. The rifling in the Judges barrel prevents accurate patterns with shot, and the ones I've shot pushes those irratic groups low and very wide right at distances as close as 15-20yds. The shot patterns at 30yds would be near useless. I don't believe the shot shells could knock down an 8" tree at point blank range. I think it would suck as a survival gun!
To get back to shotguns, do you have an opinion on the Saiga 12-gauge? I'm about halfway-onboard to buy one new, dealer-direct. I've yet to hear a bad word about it; but I would welcome your opinion, if you have one to share. I've watched a pile of videos on it, and with each one I see I get a little closer to a decision. Ultimately, I'll have to meet at the range and shoot it before I can decide. But if you have any inside information or experience with one, your opinion may be useful to me.

@kludgeon I have a Saiga 12 from Krebs Customs. I have had no issues w/ mine, but it is not a stock shotgun. The details are explained on their website.

I love almost all of the 1911 models I've handled; heck, Taurus makes one that I was really impressed with for overall value - if I wasn't married to the Sig I'd consider one of those for everyday. What is the weight of your Para, and capacity, if you don't mind? (I know I could Google it, but since we're already talking I'd just as soon get it straight from you.) Are they spendy? I don't mind that my gun was expensive, but buying ammo for it sure blows, if I don't get it in bulk.

@kludgeon I have the Para Nite-Tac. The capacity is 14+1, 45acp. I don't know the weight. They quit making the Nite-Tac a couple of years back, but they do similar models on their website.

My EDC is a Sig P238 .380, and I love it dearly. I have a few decent revolvers and some fine rifles, and a couple of minor-league shotguns; but the Sig is my baby - I named it "Precious." The only place I don't wear it is the shower! Do you have an extra-special favorite sidearm? Is the one we see in the video The One? I paid $750 for Precious, and for shame(!), it came with just the one magazine. An extra Sig-made mag now runs $40-$50. The gun came with a Crimson Trace TGL that I've never used.

@kludgeon That Para 1911 is my favorite home defense semi auto pistol.
