Located minutes from the Loop in Chicago, Shimer College is an independent, four-year liberal arts college that enrolls approximately 150 students. Founded in 1853 as the Mount Carroll Seminary, Shimer today provides a comprehensive, regularly-reviewed core curriculum that brings foundational books of the liberal arts to bear on the pressing problems of our time. Superb institution. Even more superb people. I have more confidence in Shimer students to be the future leaders of this country than pretty much anyone else. They go about the learning process with the most integrity and approach their endeavors earnestly. Go Shimer!

Shimer is a fascinating school.

I go to Illinois Institute of Technology, on whose campus Shimer is currently located. On our campus, we have: an Engineering school (with a technical worldview), an Architectural school (with a artistic-technical worldview), a Science school (with a research worldview), a business school (with a fiduciary worldview), and a Music school (with a artist's worldview).

Our campus is a wonderful place to learn.

@Patio87 Some of the surrounding area is not great, while other parts are very nice. This is just like any other place in Chicago, in that if you travel 4 blocks in any direction you are in a completely different neighborhood. The IIT campus is as safe as any other campus, as long as you take the same precautions that you would take at any other college. I have not had or seen any single issue in the 2.5 years that I have been attending.

Odd... having experienced both, I would have been much more inclined to apply those terms to conventional higher education, rather than to Shimer. But perhaps you're referring to the video itself?
