Satan says to Eve in the LDS temple drama, "I want you to eat of the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, that your eyes may be opened, for that is the way Father gained his knowledge."

Mormons, do you believe God the Father gained knowledge of good and evil by eating of the forbidden fruit?

This video is my first (amateurish) attempt to apply a Stephen Crowder kind of video format to the evangelical engagement of Mormonism.

In the video, the dash was accidentally omitted in this pasted line,'"You must eat of this fruit so as to comprehend that everything has its opposite: good and evil, virtue and vice, light and darkness, health and sickness, pleasure and pain—thus your eyes will be opened and you will have knowledge."

  • Wrong again, Aaron. Lucifer didn't tell Adam and Eve that G-d learned by eating the fruit, but by a mortal probation...just like Jesus (Luke 2:52, Heb. 5:8).

  • @Huma17 Listening for yourself to the audio recordings of the temple ceremony online.

  • It doesn't matter, The main point is sin must be washed away and mankind made clean, without sin we and God are clean.

  • @scottwins2 Scott, did your Heavenly Father once need to be cleaned from his own sin?

  • @aaronshaf2006 No way to know

  • @scottwins2 Please consult the Bible (Isaiah 43:10, 44:6,8), as well as your own distinctive scripture (Moroni 7:22, 8:18; Mosiah 3:5; D&C 20:17). Or see WeAgreeWith818[dot]com

  • @Huma17 That, provided that any of what the Bible says is true, which, in the LDS view, is highly unlikely since it has thousands of errors and mistakes in it. Therefore, your position is based on a book that is not only missing many 'plain and precious things,' but isn't the actual corrected version, the one that the Mormon god so carelessly allowed to be handed over to an apostate faith.

  • @aaronshaf2006 You need to see things in context..I know you're biased with EV eyes, but try. Lucifer says that's how the Father gained His knowledge..but what's the "that", eating the fruit, or having His eyes opened? He explains that Eve will comprehend good and evil by eating the fruit, and that COMPREHENSION will bring her knowledge. Later, Eve points out to Adam that they must go through sorrow to learn good from evil..i.e. knowledge. The Bible accords with this. See Gen. 3:5, 17-24

  • No God the Father never sinned. As a Mormon I have never believed this to be the case. As if Jesus never sinned but God the Father did? I would say that is ridiculous and I would never believe that. So much of this is speculation. Nor do I believe or know any other LDS who believe God ate of a tree to gain knowldege. But I think people can get too caught up in doctrines that if believed (thought of) have no bearing upon salvation.

  • THELDSLIFE......You say TRUST ONLY GOD, but that is not what your church teaches. You are to get all your questions answered by your prophets and leaders. How can you have it both ways? It all seems to be very wishy washy. Changing all of the time! That is not truth.

  • Genesis 3: 22 - 22 ¶And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to KNOW good and evil:

Who is to suggest that the word "Know" in this case does not mean:

"to understand from experience or attainment"

And with thoughtful prayer or even fasting with prayer, all things can be made known unto you and you wouldn't have to look to the right or the left, to your pastor, best buddy, or the most convenient anti-Mormon book to teach you how to think about this subject. TRUST ONLY GOD

  • Genesis 3:22
