I grew up in Flint and so many of the memories I have are places that no longer exist. Being a child of the 50's, what you have captured here are updated images and memories. The place my husband worked for 30 years is gone, the homes I lived until a teen are gone. Some are empty fields, some are paved parking lots. I have them all etched in my memory banks, but there is no way for me to pass those images on as I have no photos. I live not far but it seems like a hundred years ago I was there.
Lovely pictures, but I am struck by the absence of people in any of the pictures, which is both poignant and scary. All you Flint expats who love where you grew up, please stay connected and be prepared to help, both with your moral support and your finances. Organizations in Flint are here providing services for the many many people who remain and who also love Flint.
Thank u for taking the time to post this video! u captured FLINT in a very intricate way and everything that is most important....CULTURE & VARIETY!! Happy Holidays
Awesome - thank you for posting this! I grew up in flint and this brings back a lot of memories. I love the song - very powerful, and I think that the B/W makes it really kewl! Like the other comment - I know all the buildings and places here, yes including the houses. I think I played one sport or another at every high school, and at Atwood. I used to try in vain to beat Eric Turner at Punt, Pass, and Kick - but of course he won every time. He was the best all around athlete I ever saw! Cheers!
Thanks for posting this. There is much good to remember. I posted a song I wrote about Flint. This record hit number 3 on XM and is doing well internationally. I think people need to know that we have some soulful people still here. It's moody...but there is also an undercurrent of hope. And, I hope you like it. :)
I haven't been home in such a long time. This video is wonderful. Flint was a great place to grow up and I actually recoginized all of those buildings...even the houses you posted! Need to go visit.
Well done.
