  • thx 4 responding me....but now let me ask in this way about speed .if a body has a speed 0f 2m/s @ an instant t=1 and 5m/s @ an instant t=2,does this means that the body has a total speed of 7m/s ? thx

  • @thefearofthelordj No. When you have two numbers you can always add them, but it doesn't mean that the answer means anything useful.

    Let's say that you have a car travelling at 2 m/s for 10s and then at 3 m/s for 15s. What is its average speed over these 15s? Distance covered in the first 10s: 2 x 10 = 20 m. Distance covered in the following 15s: 3 x 15 = 45 m.

    Average speed is (total distance)/(total time) = (20 + 45)/25 = 2.6 m/s.

    I hope this helps.

  • is the speed a scalar quantity ? if so does 2m/s of x body + 3m/s of y body = to 5m/s ? thx...i expect to hear from thee!

  • @thefearofthelordj speed is indeed a scalar quantity. As far as the second part is concerned, the answer is "it depends".

If 2 m/s is the speed of x, 3 m/s is the speed of y, what does 5 m/s represents? the speed of what? If you mean the total distance covered by these two (x and y) in a second then, yes, it is 5 m.

  • I need 4 advanced courses for honours with distinction and my fourth one is gonna have to be IB. im already signed up for academic chemistry and physics so im just gonna up one of those to ib. Which is easier though, ib physics or ib chemistry

  • I don't teach IB Chemistry so I cannot help you here. Sorry. Anyone else?

  • @complimentsheck i would say chem is easier ;P but probs no help now lol if you like maths chose physics if you dont chose chem - simple.

  • It is comforting to know that I will be at least semi-competent in Physics before the first day of school. All kidding aside, thank you so much for posting these videos. It has made Physics a more bearable subject to study. I'm not a great math student, but this series clears up a lot.

  • Thank you so much! You're the best!

  • ur making ur OSC lessons really useless.... u better stop this...

    just kidding.. amaaazing.

  • I actually find IB chemistry much easier,

my entire class is struggeling most with physics, we are IB2, IB3 on the other hand, have another physics teacher and do best in physics. I really think that to some extent it is important what the teacher is like.

  • thanx!!
