I've seen him while he was 17 years old in Serbia, he was unreal, the best prospect we had in years. But we havea broken system where he couldn't pan out + he was a head case. But in the right system, you can fix these things (read NCAA), with strong mentors and without agents and money... His team gave up on him quickly because of his temper issues and only wanted the money. Had he landed with a Don Nelson type of coach, he would have been a perrenial all star, book it. What a shame.

What a headcase. If he wasn't, he would have been an all-star today. On the bright side, irrespective of his appearance, Darko's a great human being, helping children like few. So I vote not for Darko the NBA player, but for Darko, the guy helping the sick and the needy.

you people are retarded if you think dwight is actually talking about darko. dwight is clearly talking about another player and this is just a video made from different clips. i remember this interview with dwight and he was talking about another player. not darko.

@nbadjamesus That's what I believe too. Now it's too late, but you can occasionally see flashes of brilliance (like his 22 pts, 5 block game recently or the 7-blocks game after that), but Darko's deteriorated offensively. He was much more skilled at 20-years old, Bosh is a good comparison, although Darko has 2 inches on him. But how many players have we seen with the same mental issues? Legion. It's a shame, hopefully he can be a serviceable big for the Wolves...

Out of any of the guys drafted after LeBron, if any of them had been drafted to the Pistons, they could very well be labeled a bust today. That team was stacked.

If Darko got the benefit like Bosh did of going to a team like Toronto where nobody gave a shit and could develop he would be the number one center in the league.

@MSF3524 No particular research involved, I am from Serbia and I watched his games on TV. Since I write for a French basketball weekly occasionally, I immediately reported about a 7-foot kid with incredible skills. And I wrote he would be the first pick of the Draft some day. That was in the fall of 2001. I was wrong in the sense he was picked second overall in 2003, but ahead of Wade, Bosh and Melo. Without the hype and in the right setting, he would have been something else.
