He doesn't talk about the theory and chord types, he refers to the riffs with certain emotions, i guess that's how all the songs he writes are so relatable to certain emotions

@EvilHippy38 Thats is true. I do the same, as Mark says "its all pretty and good" and mostly important, simple. These are some heartwarming tones you can ear from a guitar and this video is a clearly example of that. Hope you'll have the same impact as them, and forward to ear some of your tunes.

@robMD2010 Very well put. I don't even use standard tuning anymore. Sometimes I'll go to E flat for covers but, alternate tunings (especially open ones) really inspire me in ways that standard E can't begin to. Much like Mark, I find that the sounds they have to offer are a better reflection of who I am and what I want to convey as a guitarist. It opens up a whole new dimension to creativity and writing.
