I believe this is made by simply inverting the phase of the sample. That is why we need to get the exact same instrumental track. When you invert the phase of the sample it cancels the sound so nothing is heard.....pretty cool though!

This is a well known method. The only problem is that getting an instrumental track is usually as hard as getting the acapella. However you can use this method to remove bits of a song, for example if there is a time when the kick plays all by itself, then you could use this technique to remove all kicks, and once you've done that you may find that the claps are now playing all by themselves, so you could remove them too. Then clean up with a bit of EQ and you can get pretty close.



OMG how many times does he have to go over highlighting the difference between a normal wave length and an inverted one! I got it the 1st time you said it......was still the same after the 24th time.
