@cronopio131 It is sad because once the 2012 Olympics roll around and she doesnt compete, her celebrity status will be forgotten... like Carly Patterson and many others. How many TV or radio stations are eager to interview the 2004 Olympic All Around Gold Medalist??? Her 15 minutes (well much longer than that :P) are almost up...

I would say Shawn probably hadn't quite peaked at the Olympics - she still had improvements to make on her artistry and flexibility - and would have done in the year following the Games; unfortunately she has now missed the crucial period of 17-18 years old when most gymnasts peak. She will probably never reach her former level now. Hope she tries though.

It such a waste of talent! Lots of people would kill for her kind of skill! I understand that she needs to make money to help her parents out, but if she carries on with "the fame game" shes gonna lose the one thing that got her there in the first place; her amazing ability.

I respect her choice to sort out life before jumping back into gymnastics, i would love to see her back in gymnastics but only if she loves it just as much as always...you only live once

@missnicointokyo You need to also remember the financial toll her gymnastics took on her family. Her parents had to take out three mortgages, and I can understand her wanting to use her position to make money to help cover the expenses.
