  • I agree, we couldn't fight France and Spain and America all at once, we needed to come home and defend against invasion, which we did. BTW we historically won this battle, the writer just took an American victory and this battle and pulled it together. Also the last bit where they chase the americans only to their impending doom is a little reminiscent of Braveheart is it not?!

  • the reason for that is the inaccuracy of the muskets, its impossible to shoot someone with a musket the way we fight wars now, with the introduction of rifling, we started to see skirmishers in loose formation who were able to hit even the other skirmishers in loose formation, eventually, that style of warfare became more popular, and here we are today

  • @Obistalker1 You can save your "history lesson" thanks. From what I can see I wrote I had detected a level of inaccuracy in the way the ambush scene played out and was mearly pointing it out :)

  • @MrRedeyedJedi Actually, that was just the heavy infantry they portrayed ;) We had light infantry that used skirmish and almost guerrilla like tactics. If ambushed, any reasonable regiment would use skirmish tactics regardless of whether or not they're heavy infantry. As for being silly, it made a lot of sense considering the weapon, the Brown Bess musket, was accurate up to fifty yards and even then, it wasn't accurate. I'll be more than happy to give a history lesson :D

  • @MiKeDpRoDuCtIoNs Er, I think anyone with a brain realises britain lost the war. It's OK to have an intelligent debate about the reasons why and to analyse them.

  • @ThePalaeontologist You really think that? You don't think that fighting a war 6,000 miles away, as part of a world war in which britain was involved and split on all fronts against the Dutch, French and Spanish, was the real cause? And that there was no political will at home to win the war? Britain could probably have sent over 100,000 troops and had a nazi style approach to occupy/kill every town, but to what end? They realised it was not winnable on those terms.

  • @MiKeDpRoDuCtIoNs ...individually caused error ultimately led to the narrow loss of the war for Britain. Even so, its likely that the brave average joe 7,500 strong British Garrison commanded by the flawed upper class twit Cornwallis to stay, could have repulsed the Continental and Minutemen force. If a storm hadn't scattered the British fleet, and the French Fleet and 10,000 troops had not interfered, Britain would have regrouped, and won fair and square, simple. USA owes a lot to France end of

  • @MiKeDpRoDuCtIoNs Vietnam....too soon? Well, I think the US only exists thanks to the intervention of the French at Yorktown, the Spanish and the Dutch also (yes the Spanish and Dutch too) Fair enough, one British army was trapped at Yorktown (thanks to Cornwallis being just a nob regardless of nationality or rank, and all his men thought it was a bad idea - as they could have moved north earlier to New York to join with 8,000 Redcoats under Clinton, meaning a rather unstoppable force) and this

  • GAY MUSIC!

  • @merton8181 Why can't Brits accept they lost the war and stop making excuses?

  • o well.. they won the war they can write their own history

  • Well we all know thw Americans won its pretty embarrasing but i like how they ignited the spark its so amazing
