At 3:43 while going upwind the mast is rotated with the major axis pointed at the crew rather than to leeward, clockwise 90 degrees from its position. This is the cause of the mast failure seconds later.

sweet movie, so much S bend in that mast no wonder it went. downhaul got to be off under spinnaker and was diamond spreader up tight enough to keep mast stiff.

@SuperTornadoo spanner was ok, we weakened the mast by doing a lot of windward mark training bearing away without loosening the downhaul.
We have many different cats at wildwind but the tornado is the best.
