  • I remember a few years ago we had a steamtrain come through minneapolis, MN. The prettiest sight I have ever seen. Does anyone know what train comes through yearly up in MN? My 2 yr old is in love with trains and I would love to take him for a ride on one.

  • Could be #261 out of the GN Shops/Mpls Jnctn, Minneapolis, MN. Check out Friends of the 261 web page varify if this is the engine.

  • It is!..thank you SO much. I know my little 2 year old will LOVE it! He gets all teary eyed just watching the trains. This past summer we "spent the day out with Thomas." He thought that was the greatest. It's great how both children and adults can enjoy the trains.

  • You are welcomed. Yes! the sight, sound and the power of a steam engine is unforgetable. Especially the likes of a large road engine like the 261. I hope one day I could see the 261 in operation mayself. Go Army NG!

  • @tcarr22239 And its just as unforgettable(if not more so) when you see a steam engine like the 3985 on a freight train or see UP 844 blasting down the main line at 80 mph with a passenger train. sadly, i've only seen them in a video.

  • @Fireheart528 Unfortunately because of the expense and gov. regulations of maintaining and running steam locomotives many organizations are retiring them as a static display. One day all that will be left for people to see them running will be the archives of videos that people have shot.

  • Greatest whistle I've ever heard on a steam locomotive!

  • The Frisco 1522 is a magnificent steam locomotive. She is one of my favorites. It's a damn shame I never got to have a ride on her while she was still in service. I hope she gets taken back out of retirement.

  • @tcarr22239 Not if my crew and I have anything to say about it.

  • @Armywife110907

I hope that your 2 yr old (5 now obviously!!) has had many chances to ride behind a steam engine, especially a coal fired steam engine. One of the greatest things that man has made. ^_^

  • @southern4501isawesom

They're not gone. They're just not in action anymore. If they were both really gone, then that would a whole new, and much worse, tragedy.

  • two best locomotives together sad that both of them are gone.

  • @tcarr22239 Government are a bunch of stuck-ups bc they only care about the money and themselves. I would almost put this as my ringtone for my cell phone bc that whistle is the best I've ever heard. Should put something like that on my car/truck when i get one.

  • @NWRRSteamPower You should hear a 6 chime whistle! They're great whistles!
