12/27/11, San Timoteo Canyon
12:10PM. A slow moving doublestack make its way west towards Los Angeles.
UP 4214 West

12:16PM. Shortly after comes another doublestack charging up the grade this time heading east towards Beaumont Hill and points east.
UP 8439 East

12:27PM. Not too long after that comes an westbound manifest most likely heading for West Colton Yard.
UP 8481 West

12:38PM. The last train in the busy 30 minutes we were there happens to be an appealing loaded rock train heading towards Los Angeles.

12/28/11, Ash St, San Diego
12:06PM. Starting off late due to Amtrak 566 arriving late, Amtrak 775 leaves San Diego for the long, 8 and a half hour journey to San Luis Obispo. Coaster 648 also pulls in while 775 is departing.

SDNR 2309 South (Coaster 648)

12:40PM. Also running late, Pacific Surfliner 768 arrives into San Diego from Santa Barbara 15 minutes late. Most trains were delayed to a crossing that needed to be protected at Noel St, a mile or two north of Santa Fe Depot.

12:45PM. Coaster 645 departs San Diego towards its next stop of Old Town and eventually Oceanside.

2:04PM. Running 10 minutes late, Amtrak 572 pulls into San Diego.

2:15PM. Not too long after, Coaster 651 highballs Santa Fe Depot.
SDNR 3002 North

3:00PM. After Amtrak 572 was cleaned and prepared for its next departure, it highballs as Amtrak 583.

3:11PM. 11 minutes later, Pacific Surfliner 774 arrives from san Luis Obispo.

3:39PM. After pulling out of the yard south of the station, Coaster 653 highballs for Oceanside.

3:59PM. Coaster 654 pulls into Santa Fe Depot.
SDNR 2309 South

4:02PM. Pacific Surfliner 785 leaves San Diego bound for Goleta.

4:21PM. Coaster 655 departs San Diego on an advance approach at Ash St.
SDNR 2104 North

4:40PM. Coaster 656 arrives on Track 2 while Coaster 657 boards passengers for its trip to Oceanside.
SDNR 2303 South

4:52PM. Coaster 657 heads out of San Diego towards Oceanside where it will head straight to the yard.
SDNR 2105 North

4:54PM. Running just a few minutes late, Amtrak 578 arrives into San Diego with the semi-new OLS wrapped engine.

Santa Barbara, 12/29/11
4:55PM. Amtrak Pacific Surfliner 798 departs Santa Barbara with an unusual engine.
AMTK 90230 South

6:17PM. Amtrak Coast Starlight 11 pulls into Santa Barbara right on time, and then departs towards Los Angeles at 6:26PM.
