Let's save Majid Tavakoli and his Mum!

Majid Tavakoli is a 24 years old leader of Iranian Students Union. He's been arrested many times because of his involvement in the peaceful uprising against election rigging and for Democracy in Iran. He's conducting a hunger strike in the prison for several days and nobody has any news about his health situation. He has been joined in his action by his mother and many other political prisoners in Evin prison in Tehran.
Iran is boiling for democracy. The people of Iran have decided to pay the price but to achieve this century old dream of Freedom. The women of all social classes and the youth of Iran are the backbone of this movement. Their movement is peaceful and their demands are basic: free society in which the people rule the country through their elected bodies. Instead the Islamic Regime has grossly violated its own laws, and the international convention to which it's a signatory.
The last resort of this government, which behaves like an occupation army, is the execution and hanging. On the eve of the anniversary of the June Uprising in few days, the Iranian regime has increased the level of its violence. On 9th may they hanged five political prisoners, four of them Kurdish, with fake trials violating their own laws and have retained the corpses to prevent families to have a funeral.
Majid, who shared the same cell with two of the prisoners hanged on 9th May, and became comrades, wrote a public letter of homage to the courage of these two fallen friends: Farzad Kamgar, today an icon of Resistance in the country and Farhad Vakili. Regime which wanted to terrorise the country by these hangings couldn't even impose the silence in its own prisons. The courageous and defying action of writing this letter, from someone who is another himself, like Majid, was the last thing the regime expected. Once more its tactic of terror backfired on him. During the last years, never the recognition of the barbaric situation in Kurdistan, by the other parts of the country has been so deep.
The Dictator wanted division and terror, but he got was the defiance and unity with a huge historical icon he has to live with.
Immediately after that letter Majid, expectedly, was visited by the specialists of torture. That is when he started his hunger strike.
Today, nobody has access to him and we don't even know that he's still alive.
His poor mother joined his son's ordeal to draw the attention of the world to this inhuman situation.
Unfortunately, all the western governments and media are interested in these days is the nuclear issue in Iran and the news of the recent hangings and tortures went unnoticed. Some Western governments try to be friendly enough with the regime in the hope of getting some concession on nuclear dossier. This is an unprincipled cowardly behaviour that the Iranian people will never forget.
During the days which separate us from the anniversary of the Freedom Movement, we expect more violence from the regime. The only defence of our people is their unity, their resole and the solidarity they have enjoyed from the people all around the world. I thank you deeply from heart for having supported us so far. Please keep doing this and spread the solidarity by bringing the news to the public opinion in your respective countries.
We call upon the people, the citizens of all countries to help us in this struggle!
We call upon all freedom lovers of all countries to help saving our dear Majid and his courageous mother.
The world has never been so small place and the fight for freedom so Universal!

  • 6 days after the start of his hunger strike Majid is transfered from SOLITARY CONFINEMENT to the COMMON WARD. His struggle was successful and showed once more that:

TPGETHER, we can stop the Dicator!

    Thanks for your help!

There are other prisoners today on hunger strike

  • Thank you Reza. I shared your video on Facebook to spread the message. Hopefully we can be Majid's voice outside Iran and do our share to help him and the other political prisoners against this murdering regime who's holding an entire nation hostage.

  • @lacountess

Putting the spotlight on the prisoners of DEATH ROW, making them KNOWN by international community and equally INSIDE the country, is one of the BEST shields we can provide them. This WORKS. We saw few prisoners released last two weeks.

It worked for Leyla Zana years ago and her death penalty was broken. This concept of campaign makes EVERY single of us a real SHELTER for them.

    I really MEAN IT.

  • Marg bar diktator.

Reza, sad as your post is, I am pleased to hear your voice and see more than just a picture.

I always want to do more to help those inside Iran . . .

  • @erscott13

What you can to help the people INSIDE is to be their voice here OUTSIDE. Tell their stories and break the wall of silence and prejudices about this country.

Maybe spreading this video can be a start. We don't have time to lose for Majid.

  • Death to the terrorist, anti Iranian, murderer government of Iran. Pirooz Baad Iran va Irani.

  • @trinityloren43

Actually the IRI is TERRORIST against its own people,

MURDERER against the Iranians as an occupation army can be.

Please help us to spread this video. We don't have time to lose.

  • thanks, dear Reza, you're gorgeous!! this is great! shared
