  • Hi,

Yep, you can replace the wet side seal without splitting the main crank cases. You still have to strip out the clutch and primary drive etc (as shown in my video), but it's much easier than splitting the main cases. Once you have everything removed just pick out the seal with a hooked 'awl' type tool or something similar (Google it). It can take some patience to get the old one out but they do tend to come out without too much trouble, just make sure that you don't damage the metal seat!

  • @trinityuk2000uk

Yes you can can (well one side of the shafts anyway) if you're careful. Just take your time when you are splitting the crank cases.

  • how do you remove gearbox bearings that are not open on the back/seal side, i mean there's no oil seal and you cant see the back of the bearing for crankcase. any help would be much appreciated. great vids by the way keep it up

  • @bravestar25 Good question, but you're not the first to ask. Watch my other vid '2-Stroke Motocross YZ Engine Re-Build 2a (of 5) - Case Bearing Removal'. There are several ways to do this, but this one's quick and always works well (with a little skill).

  • looking at all the views you have on this YZ bottom ends series...you

helped a lot of people...including me. thx

  • @GatheringSticks Thanks for the feedback. I'm amazed at how many people have watched these vids to be honest. Watching someone makes it a little simpler though I suppose. Glad it helped :o)
