@andreskizzo Lois and Lana were pretty much friends immediately, mainly due to their connections to Chloe and Clark, but they got along very well themselves, with Lois encouraging Clana in the early years. But the show didn't want to really ever have a true love triangle where Lana and Lois would fight over Clark, so they essentially waited for full fledged Clois after Lana left for good.

Lois gives the best advice in Smallville! Really, other than Martha, all the "kids" are pretty clueless and Lois usually has something interesting to say when the moment calls for it. Go Lois!
