@StevenShields29 I think the fact that most mormons enjoyed this movie is evidence that people enjoy exaggerated parodies of their own cultures.

For example, "Sugar, Water, Purple", is not funny to someone who didn't experience a Kool-aid inundated childhood.

In many cases comedy is more about recalling nostalgic memories and poking fun at them, than straight wit. The script of Singles Ward was not funny, it was corny, and as such makes a parody toward the extreme "corniness" of mormon culture.

@StevenShields29 Seriously, you live in a fantasy world if you think this is funny. Bad acting and unfunny script. I suppose only a Mormon could think it's funny. Then again, some of the testimonies I've heard at Sacrament meetings that brought tears to the eyes of others around me were shockingly unmoving. You have a very, very different sensibility, I suppose, about what is moving and funny. The brainwashed tend to.
