My 18th video in a series I'm working on for some of my favorite songs from the past.

"The Road To Babylon" was released on Manfred Mann's The Roaring Silence album in 1976. This was the first album by this group that I ever bought and I remember being amazed at how unique and different it sounded. This was a band with a sound all it's own and this album is a great example of that sound.

I really love each and every song on the album and would have enjoyed creating a video for any of them. However, The Road To Babylon is not only one of my favorites, but I also thought it a good song for a video about the whole middle east situation.

I dedicated this video to a friend of the family's who lost his life in Bagdad, Oscar Sauceda, Jr. and all the other brave men and women who sacrificed so that others might have a chance at freedom.

I remember when I was about 15 years old , smoking some pot with my friend and listening to this song for the first time, I thought it was real heavy.I think I need to start listening to this band again.

Yeah, 15 was so great! And I definitely agree that you should start listening to this band again.....they have some absolutely freakin' incredible progressive rock music....easily on par with the best ever recorded.

Thank you so much for the kind words! You know, when I was trying to choose the first song from The Roaring Silence album to make a video for "Singing The Dolphin Through" was the first song I thought about, but went with "The Road To Babylon" since it allowed me to dedicate it to my son's friend who was killed in Iraq, but now that you mention it....yeah....it would be a great song to try something with...soon. I've been playing with a couple of tracks from their Malice In Wonderland album, but "Please Don't Judas Me" is a great suggestion.....might fire that one up and see what happens?
