You guys are missing the point here. The turbine didn't just fail, it *exploded*. I don't think it would be safe to fly for any distance if that had happened (the wing itself might also be damaged). Also I don't think that the plane crashed intentionally, rather the pilot intended to make an *emergency landing* (mission 27 anyone?) and it all went wrong. And that's clearly a highway, not a runway...though stranger things have happened.

@Techboy6601 thats wrong, a boeing 747 can fly with 2 engines for 200 or 300 miles
the two-jet b787 can fly with one engine for 5 1/2 hours

A 747 can fly on 1 engine for 18 hours at 20,000 feet... I don't think a massive jumbo jet can crash in that situation.
Besides, what are the odds of crashing right next to a airport runway? I mean, couldn't you just land?

Hey Leute, das stellt ja auch kein realistisches Ereignis dar, das ist nur ein Intro für ein 1998 erschienenes Computerspiel. Ich hab das nur hochgeladen, damit sich die Fans der Reihe "Emergency" freuen und wollte keine fachlichen Diskussionen auslösen! wie multiantonia1 schon gesagt hat war der technische Stand zu diesem Zeitpunkt eher gering.
