In this second part tutorial for designing book covers, we go to the next level and create a dust jacket in Indesign. Take the same design from the first tutorial and increase the file width to accomodate the inside flaps of the dust jacket. Also features some design pro tips.

»Final document size: 21 inches (wide) by 9 inches (height).
»This includes the 1" spine and don't forget the 1/8" bleed on all sides.

  • I'm personally not a fan of the color red but when a graphic designer gets their hands on it they can usually make it look good for me

this was really well done and i myself am becoming a graphic designer, hopefully will be doing book jackets like this some day! If there is any advice you could give me to help me on my way into freelancing it would be very nice and greatly appreciated!

  • @SamusWins Thanks! As for freelancing, that could be a whole other channel! The best advice I can give is that your experience and portfolio is what will guide you through your freelance career. Learn about business, seek guidance from others, and become a marketing guru. Freelancing is about many hats and you must excel at many things from accounting to designing. Take the time to learn what you need, build your portfolio and get out there to find clients.
