0:23 Reckless driving on the part of Tony Danza.

@KratostheThird The writers were more relaxed maybe. We dwell on tenseness these days, and anxiety. I have been watching fantasy films from the 1980s recently as well. Re-runs like Beast Master, Ladyhawke, and Dragonslayer. They have the same effect.

The theme song's not that bad. Wish it could've been more jazzy. I prefer legendary jazz pianist Johnny Costa to tell you the truth. James rocks, but that's just in a disco sense. Why could'nt there have been outstanding jazz music on TAXI? Johnny Costa's jazz music was the kind you'd expect Marilu Henner to dance or show off her legs to.

@KratostheThird I know. Thank God for cable where we can still enjoy these shows.

@lucky44124 Or they promote the next show DURING the current show--how are you supposed to enjoy the show with all that distracting crap at the bottom?

The music. The cast. The CAST! The closing logo. Brilliance all around.
Reminds me of bedtime as a child in the weeee early years of the 1980s when they ran this syndicated after the news...that end music and Goodnight Mr. Walters meant it was time for bed!

Love Bob James' Taxi theme and the outro. It just had a feeling of reflection and moodiness that set the stage for the Taxi driver. Loved the whole jazzy feel of that theme song and I agree with what one person said of how you won't see comedy shows like this one any more. Sad to say good writing and a strong cast are things people don't have the time, nor the money, to put together.
How come so many of these older shows seem more innocent and fresh than anything we have today?
The glory days of sitcoms are long gone. It enjoyed quite a lengthy success, starting with the popularity of I Love Lucy and ending it with the season finales of Frasier and Friends. Now, I don't know what they are doing with sitcoms, or just television in general.
The TV set was once a symbol of innocence and entertainment. Now it's all about how good your HD picture looks.
