Unfortunately this project really does means well but lacks any substance to raise real awareness. Most of the people interviewed in this video are representative of the target market of typical student poverty campaigners and as such prone to illusions about goodwill being the silver bullet to alleviating poverty. There's a lot more to it than just good will and aid money, there is a need to understand that transcends what everyday people make of the controversial issues faced in development.

We'd completely agree - which is why we've spent the last year working with a group of advisers from around the world in order to communicate these.

This vox pop is just that - a vox pop, to see what everyday people in a University town think about these issues.

Come along to a presentation in Australia from July onwards to see us discuss the challenges and opportunties of ending extreme poverty, and what we can do about it.

The legitimacy of your comment would have been enhanced if you'd taken the time to find out what this project actually is. Based on my understanding it's about much more than good will and aid, but rather about helping people to understand what global poverty actually is and what they can do to be a part of the solution.

didnt george harrison and bob geldof already try to fix this? you cannot support a huge amount of people in areas that cannot grow food, some have to die otherwise the planet gets overpopulated and we all starve. Its not nice its nature.

There are limited resources on this planet this includes arable land for food production. Is anyone prepared to go hungry or give up their familys spot on the planet for a family in another country? Survival is success and no one is going to put their and their decendents survival behind someone elses. Look what happens when land is no longer able to be grown in an area and people move to another peoples area to survive, war because those there first dont want them there taking their resources.

To me, the global poverty project means a bunch of well-meaning but unfortunately uneducated idiots trying to save populations in areas that can't sustain them resultuing in Malthusian population checks such as we are seeing today in the parts of Africa where Bob Geldof so successfully saved 10's of 1000's 2 decades ago.
