@TheSami1973 thanks, enjoy watching and learning! this is where i learnt a few good phrases too. every movie helps esp. when replayed...

@arrant972 Yes I totally agree with you there. Ettena did a brilliant job. The more I watch this film the more I really get into it. I am hooked. It's one of the best films I've ever seen and I actually enjoy trying to understand the German language with the help from subtitles. Fantastic.

I love this film so much

@ForAnimalsSake - actually a considerable paradox: he is proud that "we shot down 41 plans". at the same time he perceives the breakdown of a/his culture of a civilized society - his toilet is bomb-damaged too. but yes, the toilet-topic is a very simple narrative style for that - but maybe that's german humor?!
-
@forAnimalsSake - "but now my toilet is away" refers to the fact that the part of editor's home had been destroyed in carpet bombing. it comes across as cryptic to us but that was day in day out reality for Berliners back then.
cheers!
the translation is very solid actually, if perhaps literal in a few spots only. ettena did a great job considering the fact she's not a professional. that's a skill, you guys...

The subtitles are so midleading. What does ''but now my toilet is away'' mean? I shouldnt complain as someones gone to the troub;e to upload it. But I dont really understand whats going on.
