Much apocalyptic thinking -- or I should really call it pseudo-apocalyptic -- is actually emanating from the adherents of a belief system totally opposed to any form of Christianity -- and we Mormons consider ourselves Christians. I do not speak for the LDS Church, but I decry the misuse of the Apocalypse by people who are trying to bring about destruction. I have atheist friends and there are many wonderful atheists. It is better to be an atheist than to use the Savior's name in hate.

I'm a Mormon, by the way, and was raised Catholic. I have been in many denominations. The Savior said that the greatest commandment is to love God with all one's heart, soul, and being, and that the second is like it: to love one's neighbor as oneself. Many people think, myself often included, that we can flagrantly flout the mitzvah of loving our fellow beings, and make up for it by projected an exaggerated amount of maudlin emotion onto abstract ideas about God. This does not work.

Francis Bacon once made an observation about whom an arrest warrant would be issued for if a description of the antichrist were issued to the chief of police. The point of religion, I really think, is to encourage compassion and kindness. What does not do that may call itself religion, it may commit injustice in the name of religion, but it's an ego trip. Not everything called love may be love, though I defy anyone to deny the centrality of love and mercy to Christ's doctrine.

People who are obsessed with apocalyptic doomsday prophecies are usually suffering from profound psychological disturbances. In the Epistle of James there is a definition of religion that has nothing to do with eschatological speculations, and I think religion -- any religion -- is being misused once the hating and the mudslinging starts. Religion should benefit the human race and the rest of creation as much as possible. The doomsdayers of all creeds are stupid.

they talk about a pope who will part of the ant-christ or the lamb of the 2 horns who will join with the anti-christ and since their is one in the end with with no name is because its the black pope benedict is the white pope, the black pope runs the pope and the vatican study it know it and watch it fit like as a puzzle piece!
