Tribute to one of my fave characters to the song All the Right Moves by OneRepublic. The lyrics (my interpretation of them) are painfully ironic, but to me, this fit together pretty well.

This video represents Orochimaru's involvement with Akatsuki, his one-sided rivalry with Itachi, his possession of Sasuke, and the betrayal to his teammates.

In my mind, Orochimaru is a very sad villain. Not excusing his crimes, his mental instability was likely the result of a series of things: the death of his parents, growing up in the midst of a war, and witnessing the deaths of Tsunade's lover and younger brother. Saddened by the fragility of humans, he tried to play God--and this was the result.

My intentions for this video?

After Orochimaru abandons his village and turns against his team, friends and student, he joins Akatsuki. Nagato and Madara represent this new path he has taken, and the epitome of his betrayal.

Though Orochimaru was too absorbed in his own ambitions to notice who was affected by his actions, in his last moments, he is reminisces about his past, and considers Anko. I tried to emphasize on this student-teacher bond, puting it parallel to Orochimaru's relationship with his own mentor, alongside the camaraderie he had with Tsunade and Jiraiya.

Itachi, to Orochimaru, was a stepping stone to accomplishing his goals. When this endeavor failed him, he turned to the younger brother, Sasuke. Yet another student-teacher bond, yet this is not one Orochimaru managed to successfully sever for himself. In the end, the product of his achievements in the upbringing of Sasuke turned out to be his downfall.

Ultimately, Orochimaru wanted peace, however because of the path he chose, he found anything but. I have some Naruto in here merely to pose the 'what if' question: what if Orochimaru had stayed with Konoha?
