Instead of playing g4, which weakens your kingside pawns, you should have played knight takes bishop. Your knight is in a horrible square on the side of the board, while his bishop is in the center. Why not trade your bad piece for his good one? Also, after he takes your knight with his pawn, that clears the way for your queen to go to h5 with check. This would force him to move his king, so he wouldn't be able to castle... and after he moves his king, you'd be able to take the pawn on f5.

There is little reason to put your pawn on c3 in the opening. c3 is where your knight belongs. Yes, it protects your d4 pawn, but that pawn is already protected by your queen and knight.
Then you put your knight on a3. That's a bad square for a knight. It isn't protecting anything, and if he plays a6, it won't even be able to move up the board at all.

@ztrem3 Thanks for commenting and giving good advice... you seem to have a lot of knowledge in chess... and you taught me something today! I been playing for 10 yrs but I havent played consistently throughout that time period so i kinda like a late beginner early intermediate type player so I still have alot of flaws and am working hard to become a better player!
