hey mate. the light under your veranda is often refered to as saint elmo's fire. they used to see it a lot on tall ships. what it is is residual current from the lightning strike and is how you can get fried without being actually struck by lightning. the current is much weaker than the strike but will still give you a good tickle. once it finds a ground it is gone instantly but looks really cool

At 1.18 you get a frame that shows glowing current under the verandah at the top of the post. Its a hard frame to get but very strange. Maybe someone can shed some light on that. (no punt intended)
yeah, i had a similar thing happen to me once, i was on the varandah filming the storm and it hit less than 20 meters from my house. i heard a very unique and distinct (zzziip) go right past me, i felt very shaken up, but not from fright, it was differen more like having 20 red bulls or something...

Try pause on exactly 1:18. It looks like its the middle of the day. My house got destroyed in the gap.
