@awesomeastrid You were a lot nicer about Dr Putnam than anything I have to say about him lol. Personally as a multiple myself, I believe that even movies & books about MPD(DID) that are stigmatizing are good in a way because either way it gets people talking about it. The more it gets out in the public, the more professionals will hopefully realize that MPD isnt nearly as rare as some still think it is.

As a multiple myself, I'm curious. Does the film portray integration as the only way to be healed? Was it their choice or the therapists choice? Either way, I wanted to say thank you to Hilary for being brave enough to let people see.

As a member of a group that was diagnosed multiple MPD, now DID back in 1986, I have great respect for any sharings of this experience and Hillary s and groups courage . What concerns me is that this is so very, very, much like "Sybil" and adding the the Devil to the Title furthers stigma , sensationalism& myths if Drs and Some true accounts of multiples,& Media believe multiplicity to be . Dr Putmans Expertise is not all multiple or even most experience

Maria, if you get a chance to see the film, we hope you'll feel as Hilary herself does - that it actually de-stigmatizes the issue of Dissociative Identity Disorder. It's a very honest and profound look at one woman's experience, and from the start of the film Hilary explains why she wants to demystify DID. (The title 'When the Devil Knocks' comes from Hilary's psychologist, to explain how she had to welcome in and befriend Hilary's angry alters in order to facilitate Hilary's integration.)
