The computer or ECU in the 09-10 Corolla will not accept the download of the brake override system. This system is in place to give the customer added security if an object traps the accelerator by accident. Even without it, it's been proven by Car and Driver and Edmunds that any car can stop even when the brakes are pressed and the car is at full throttle.
i'll be honest. I hate the idea of a brake override system. They are talking about making it manditory, which can really screw up us stick shift drivers (for heal, toe techniques). i assume your car is automatic, otherwise you would just stomp on the clutch if your car ran away, which would of course cut out the power input. in an automatic, you could slip your car into neutral if your carolla runs away.
There should also be a law that each and every new vehicle from every automaker must come with a brake override system. NHTSA and IIHS, both agencies that test vehicles for safety, should also take this safety feature to a higher level. From 2012and so forth, vehicles must come statndard with stability control, not optional. Maybe in that same year, NHTSA and IIHS have to test each and every vehicle for the brake override system. If the vehicle doesn't have it, then it should not be sold.
toyota only cares about money. they are one of the worlds most profitable. yet each year they pay their workers less. where does their profits go? not into quality, and not to their workers.
