I agree, he's not that great of a live speaker, I remember his performance ontop of that movie theater, not the best. He's probably one of the best singers I've heard on recording, but that's because he can take his time and let his voice rest.
A singer's voice performs best within one hour of warming up, and with a singer like Cornell, it's gonna take it's toll.
