Dude you have a great understanding of vocal fry and the false chords :D Awesome guide!
-
exellent explanation man. is this the same gritty sound Chad Kroeger from nickelback has been using? and also Robert Plant from led zep?

You literally taught me how to do vocal chord screams. Previously I used part of my throat and although it does not hurt that bad, it still hurt a little and would leave my throat hoarse for a day. Now I can actually add notes to the screaming, much like Chester Bennington and newer In Flames stuff. Thanks man!

Do you know of a way to increase your range upward? I have a pretty deep voice and I've got enough of a bottom end that I'm not worried about it too much. However, I have less than enough high range to speak for. So...any advice?
Thank you very much for these videos, they help a lot! I need some help on a problem though. Sometimes when i try to scream with my band, when i start screaming i feel it uncomfortable and my throat gets really dry so fast, and i try to drink water and water but it doesnt help a lot. But after some minutes of trying i feel it more comfortable and warming up and no more pain for my throat. So i wonder why i feel that. Do u feel the same? What pain will be so bad for my throat?

@devaggos It just means you're not warming up enough before you start. Try doing some less strenuous vocal exercises before practice and that temporary pain shouldn't happen. The reason you feel better after a bit is because you're warming up while you're practicing instead of doing it beforehand. You'll know if you're doing the bad screams; you'll quickly lose your voice and be hoarse for a while.

Excellent guide, thank you. With this, few other youtube raspy vocal guides: little by little I'm getting some awesome results. Now I just want to re-sing my old songs that I just mumbled through years ago :D it's like.. jesus christ I actually CAN sing rock vocals after all. And it's really inspiring; all the fucking possibilities that I have now. And last couple of years I was starting to lose my hope: do I really have to hire a singer, 'cos I want to sing. WELL FUCK YOU ALL NOW I CAN SING!
